The Detective Conan $1,400+ chase card

Detective Conan has just hit its 30th anniversary in Japan as of 2024 and there's no better way to celebrate than the release of Takara Tomy's TCG set, " Detective Conan - Detective's Trump Card [CT-P01]." Booster boxes hit shelves of card shops in Japan on May 4th, 2024 and have been selling out rapidly country-wide.

Above is an image of the the sought-after Detective Conan Secret Rare (SEC) Parallel card that long-time fans will highly appreciate. The brick wall, borders and autograph by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan / Case Closed, is lined with a gold foil and features Aoyama's original art of Conan. 

Also, be careful if you plan on purchasing this card. Many sellers will make listings featuring this card for only $30-60 but in reality it's just for one booster pack of the Detective Conan set (the second photo will oftentimes show a booster pack instead of the card). Be wary especially if the seller does not feature the back of the card, or if the seller features several items with different backgrounds. In Japan, this card has sold on numerous occasions between $800 and $1,400 since the set's release in May. If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

Japanese content creators that have opened booster box cases of this Detective Conan release claim that the "Conan SEC Parallel" card appears in one out of several cases, sometimes as many as 20 cases. It surprises me when people in the Pokemon community worry so much about "151" booster boxes fluctuating between $50-100 per box whereas in Japan, Conan fans are scrambling to get booster boxes of the first Takara Tomy-Detective Conan TCG set to chase after a card worth over a grand. We have the movie "Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram (2024)" to thank for the immense popularity of this TCG release, since they both released around the same time.
